Privacy
Read how we handle your data.
This page covers byheed.com and the community at byheed.com/app. Heed itself is a prototype; we will publish a privacy policy for the device and the app before the first beta units ship.
When you reserve a unit with the form on the home page, we store your email address, the country our host detects from your connection, your browser language and any campaign tags in the link you followed. A copy of your email address, that country, where you signed up and when goes to our own operations dashboard, which we use to track sign-ups across our projects.
A member account signs in through WorkOS, which handles sign-in for us. We store your email address, your name, and the display name and one-line bio you choose. Every account holds a beta reservation.
In the community we store your answers to the beta questions (country, what you do, what you record with today, how many conversations a week, and the moment you most want captured), and the ideas, votes, poll votes, comments and reports you make. Other members see your display name, your badges, the month you joined, your ideas and your comments. Vote counts are public; who voted is not. Your email address, your answers and your reports stay private to the team.
We email you when you reserve a unit, when we invite you to test one, and when you confirm. The weekly digest of build updates and closing decisions comes only if you opt in. Status changes on ideas you posted or voted on travel in that weekly email, and you can turn them off. Every email has a one-click link to change or stop them. We send through Resend and keep a copy of each email for 90 days.
When analytics are switched on, we use PostHog, through our own domain, to count page views and a few events such as a beta reservation, tied to an internal id rather than your name. PostHog keeps an anonymous id in your browser to do that. We do not record sessions, and inside the community we do not capture clicks. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP addresses, to run the site securely.
We keep your account until you delete it. Download everything we hold, or delete your account, at byheed.com/app/data. Deleting removes your account, answers, reservation, email settings and stored emails. Your ideas and comments stay under "deleted member" unless you choose to delete them too, and your votes stay as anonymous counts so published results do not change.
Without an account, use the link in any of our emails to leave the list, or email hello@byheed.com and we will delete your address. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
